Welcome to Your Lab, IIT Ropar, where we engage in cutting-edge research on surface engineering and advanced manufacturing. With a state-of-the-art Cold Spray facility, which is also a national facility, we endeavour to solve industrially and socially relevant problems by designing coatings-based solutions for them. Towards this we have multiple projects running in collaboration with industries and academic institutions. We are also involved in developing technologies for reutilizing waste, driven by student-proposed ideas. Our research has been received well in the national and international community, exemplified by our stellar record of peer-reviewed publications as well as granted patents. We have also built an impressive array of scientific instruments that can be availed by the research community. Please feel free to contact us, we are always open to helping fellow researchers, as well as to exploring new ideas and welcome any potential collaborations.

Welcoming the future of Punjab (India) — these days senior secondary students visiting our research labs, brimming with curiosity and joy. At "YourLab" (Surface Engineering Research Lab), we take immense pride in enriching young minds, sharing the basics of technology, and igniting new ideas for innovation. These glimpses reflect not just their happiness, but our commitment to nurturing the next generation of thinkers and creators — future innovators at our doorstep, exploring technology where knowledge meets inspiration.
Key subjects covered during these interactions include: applications of coatings, fundamentals of cold spray coating technology, the working of a nitrogen generation plant, and insights into how research and innovation take place at IITs.
A special thanks to Prof. Harpreet Singh for his encouragement and support in motivating students to engage with science and technology.
These initiatives are aimed at inspiring young minds and fostering a culture of innovation". These events are underway during November–December 2025.
