Clarification of factors contributing to trail degradation
Purpose and Goal:
The primary aim of my study is to clarify the factors contributing to trail erosion in Japanese National Park, mainly in Daisetsuzan National Park. This understanding is crucial for the maintenance and management of trails. By establishing a long-term monitoring system, my study accumulate basic data that can inform future prioritization and maintenance strategies.
Maintenance and Management Strategies:
The ultimate goal of my study is to use the data collected to develop effective maintenance and management strategies. This might involve implementing erosion control measures such as rerouting sections of trails, installing drainage structures, or adjusting visitor access to sensitive areas during periods of high erosion risk.
Feedback and Adaptation:
Continuous feedback is crucial for adapting the monitoring system and management strategies over time. As environmental conditions change or new challenges emerge (such as increased visitor numbers), the monitoring system should be flexible enough to accommodate these changes and ensure the sustainability of the trails.
