I have been conducting Long-term monitoring of mountain trails based on physical geography in Daisetsuzan National Park, Hokkaido, Japan. The aim is to clarify the factors contributing to trail degradation (trail erosion). The results of long-term monitoring are basic data for the maintenance and management of trails, and will be essential for future prioritization and maintenance management measures. My study also aims to create a framework to involve various stakeholders in the establishment of a long-term monitoring system for mountain trails.
