It is with great joy that we gather here today to reflect on the successful YCS Convention of St. James Deanery (Belthangady) held on 1st September 2024, at Holy Redeemer auditorium, Belthangady.
The program commenced at 9:30 a.m. with a vibrant spirit, as 103 enthusiastic students came together to participate in this enriching event. We began with the Arva unit invoking God’s blessings through a heartfelt prayer song, setting the tone for the day.
We were privileged to have Ms. Melita President of Madanthyar unit gracefully serve as the Master of Ceremony for the inaugural program. The welcome address was delivered by Mr. Vivan Dsouza, President of Belthangady Deanery, who warmly welcomed all participants and guests.
The official inauguration of the convention was marked by the unveiling of a creatively designed poster, symbolizing the essence and vision of our gathering. Rev. Fr. Walter Dmello, the Parish Priest of Belthangady, then inspired us with his wise and thoughtful words, encouraging the students to embrace the day with open hearts and minds.
Following this, Ms. Iona Fernandes, Secretary of Belthangady Deanery, expressed her gratitude to all who made the event possible with a sincere vote of thanks.
The day continued with an engaging ice-breaking session led by the YCS Central Council, where students got the opportunity to connect and bond with each other. Rev. Fr. Roshan D'cunha then led an insightful discussion on the challenges faced by youth during adulthood, offering guidance and understanding to help navigate this critical stage of life.
A demonstration of a cell meeting provided practical knowledge on organizing and conducting effective gatherings. We were also blessed to participate in the Holy Eucharist Celebration, a moment of spiritual reflection and community.
In the afternoon, Rev. Fr. Alwyn Richard Dsouza Director of Family Life Service Centre, Bajjodi, conducted an enlightening session on marriage and family life, imparting valuable lessons that will undoubtedly resonate with us all.
The day was filled with joy and energy as the Diocesan executive committee led us through an action song and fun-filled games, bringing everyone together in a spirit of camaraderie.
As part of appreciation, all the emeriti council members and animators were honoured with momentos for their selfless service rendered.
We are deeply grateful for the inspiring message shared by Rev. Fr. Clifford Pinto, Director of Belthangady unit which has truly enriched our convention and touched our heart's.
As we approached the conclusion of our convention, Mrs. Lezwin Andrade offered a vote of thanks, expressing our collective appreciation for the efforts and contributions of everyone involved.
The convention officially concluded at 4:00 p.m. with the YCS anthem and YCS clap, leaving us all with a sense of accomplishment and unity.
