#MentX

#MentX (earlier #VISL, Virtual Internship with Science Leaders), is a flagship program of YAI. MentX stands for Mentor-Mentee Exploration and Exchange- an open platform for matchmaking between mentors and mentees for the exchange of ideas. This is the first pan-India virtual internship program born during COVID-19 lock-down period, aiming to "match-make" mentees (students/general public) with mentors (Science Leaders/Established Professionals). Mentees who successfully complete this #MentX program are automatically inducted into the YAI as associates and are a step closer to becoming an elected fellow. #MentX for Autumn 2020 and Spring 2021 are completed.

Expected Internship activities/outcomes

This would be a golden chance to experience the sheer joy of knowledge discovery working with Young Science Leaders of the world! Internship would encompass weekly virtual meeting with your mentors. You may decide a topic of research in consultation with your mentor. As this is a virtual internship, no 'wet-lab' research is possible; however one can do citizen science projects, in-silico works (for example, bioinformatics/designing android app etc), survey studies and so on. Even simply writing a mini-review itself is absolutely fine. It is expected that interns will be able to publish a paper/mini-review at the end of the program. Kindly acknowledge MentX and YAI in the acknowledgement section of your report/article, that's it.

Certification

As this is an informal internship, no formal certification is offered. However, an informal certificate will be issued that can be validated digitally. In order to be eligible for digitally-validated e-certificate, interns need to attend all talks of YSL series streamed at YouTube channel: http://bit.ly/bastf and successfully complete the internship. Successful completion means mentor has to certify that you have completed all the assigned tasks in connection with the allocated research topic.
