Young Academy of India

Young Academy of India is India's first young academy for all rational knowledge domains, including science, liberal arts, languages and humanities. YAI is a democratic community for the free exchange of knowledge and partnerships; highest think-tank of the young intelligentsia of the country. 

The academy's mission include:

1. To recognize the young talent of India in forms of three memberships; Fellows who are elected by existing fellows, associates- who are persons who successfully complete #MentX-our virtual internship program, and members

2. To provide a virtual platform for 'match-making' between mentees (students/general public) and mentors (Young Science Leaders-fellows of this academy). The program is called #MentX, Menter-Mentee Exchange

3. To foster trans-disciplinary dialogues and brainstorm issues of national importance and generate thematic white papers enlisting policy-related recommendations

4. To foster SciComm (Science Communication), especially in regional languages

5. To work for fostering scientific thinking and rational skepticism in the country. A major mission of YAI is science education and outreach. The academy will bust superstitions, myths, pseudoscience and fake news. The academy will strive to upheld article 51 A(h) of the constitution of India, which is concerned with promoting scientific temperament, humanism, spirit of inquiry and reform.

The academy will soon be affiliated with InterAcademy Partnership, an international apex body. The academy will have three types of members: Elected Fellows, Young Associates and Members. Please share the information widely to have as many applicants as possible across India and abroad. 

We have completed 3 cycles of #MentX through which thousands of mentees were benefited across the nation. The mentees got golden opportunities to work with mentors who are recognized Young science leaders of India and abroad. Their two-month-long internship resulted in mini-review publication. In addition, these mentees keep on getting life-long professional guidance from the mentors. Mentees could approach their mentors for professional references during job/higher education application processes. In addition, mentors keep on helping the mentees lifelong by introducing them to their existing social connections and professional networks that would prove to be useful for higher studies and employment opportunities.
