Yadkin Soil and Water - Cost Share Programs

A true conservationist knows the world is not GIVEN by our fathers. It is BORROWED from our children.

One of the biggest contributors to water quality issues is nonpoint source pollution. In rural areas, this is often the result of soil erosion, excessive fertilizer application, animal waste contamination, and improper application of herbicides/insecticides, both agricultural and residential. Conserving and protecting groundwater, rivers, streams, and lakes from nonpoint source pollution directly contributes to the long-term sustainability of the agricultural industry.

The Division of Soil and Water Conservation offers a variety of cost share programs to address water resource issues. Most programs are based on a 75% cost share. The Division may reimburse up to 75% of a predetermined average cost to install predefined best management practices. The applicant would be responsible for the remaining 25%.

The Yadkin Soil and Water Conservation District assists in the administration of these programs. Applications are submitted to the District office (late summer/early fall - review the Yadkin SWCD calendar for deadlines). They are ranked based on established criteria that address resource concerns identified by the County and the District Board's current year Strategy Plan.

Yadkin SWCD administers these three cost share programs:
NC Agriculture Cost Share Program (ACSP)
NC Agricultural Water Resources Assistance Program (AgWRAP)
Community Conservation Assistance Program (CCAP)
