Project Aim: Develop the knowledge and skills necessary to reach the level of a professional musician. 

Task 1: Complete a Skills Audit to identify your Strengths and Weaknesses [SWOT] and areas to develop and improve. 

Deadline: Friday 20th December (Week 14)

Evidence required: Upload your skills Audit to Teams Unit 7 LO1.1  

Task 2: Create a tuition video demonstrating the ‘Essential Skills’ resources (see attached sheet) for your instrument and how to play them, discussing some of the challenges and what you will focus on learning next.  

Deadline: Fri 7th Feb 2025 (Week 19)

Evidence required: Link to video on your website / YouTube channel. Project 4, subpage "Essential Skills" Unit 7  LO 1.2 

Task 3: Complete a range of Music Theory Exercises. These should include knowledge and practical demonstration of the following: - 

1. Notate Major and Minor Scales, and their Key Signatures in any key using Treble and Bass. clef.  

2. Notate Rhythms for specified Time Signatures.   

3. Work out the Chords in any Major or Minor key and harmonise a melody with them

Deadline: Fri 28th Feb 2025 (Week 20)

4. Create a video demonstrating your keyboard skills: 

1. Perform major scales in at least 3 keys. 

2. Perform natural minor scales in at least 2 keys 

3. Perform harmonic minor scales in at least 2 keys.  

4. Perform at least 4 chord progressions from the ‘Common Chord Progressions’ sheet. 

5. Identify by Ear:  

1. Intervals 

2. Rhythms 

3. Chord Progressions from the ‘Common Chord Progressions’ sheet.  

Deadline: Fri 7th March 2025 (Week 22)

Evidence required:  Project 4, subpage "Music Theory Projects"  1, 2 & 3 – in class assessment, 4 – link to video, 5 – in class assessment. Unit 7 LO2.1 

Task 4: Audition Portfolio

1. Develop a professional Audition Portfolio of at least 2 recorded solo performances. 

    You can use backing tracks, but they must not have your part on them. 

2. Create a Solo Performance vlog/blog: include your composer/songwriter/artist research, programme notes to accompany your performances, and evidence of your rehearsal process.

3. Evaluate your solo performances. Consider accuracy, expression/ interpretation, stage presence/confidence, communication with your audience. Assess the impact of your rehearsal process on final outcomes. Compare your two performances. 

Deadline:  Fri 7th Mar 2025 (Week 22)

Evidence required: Project 4, subpage "Audition Portfolio" Link to videos on your website / YouTube channel. Unit 7 LO2.2 

Task 5: Present yourself to a specified audience / industry by creating a website with a biography and upload / embed your 2 Audition Performance videos, Essential Skills Tuition video, Keyboard Skills video and Ensemble Performance videos to a public, industry professional space, such as YouTube, personal website etc.  

Deadline: Fri 7th Mar 2025 (Week 22)

Evidence required: Link to your online professional digital space. Unit 7 LO3.1
