Wichita State's Bachelor of Arts in Education (BAED) English Language Arts (6-12) features high quality, accredited classroom instruction with applied learning in Kansas’ largest school district.
The program includes a variety of courses that will deepen your understanding of print and non-print texts, writing, language, grammar, and linguistics; structured literacy and the science of reading; and effective curriculum design, instruction, and assessment. You’ll apply your classroom learning across four semesters of school-based field experiences, while receiving feedback from knowledgeable mentors.
This program will prepare you for a successful career teaching adolescents to understand the power and joy of literacy in all its forms and leads to licensure in grades 6-12 in the state of Kansas. You will receive mentoring and opportunities to join the professional conversation by presenting at professional conferences and publishing your work in professional journals.
