“Wake Forest Professors Reevaluate Educator Roles in Light of School Shootings.” JOU 270: Introduction to Journalism: Professor Justin Catanoso, Spring 2018.

After a few poor attempts (see comments on my first and second stories) at writing news articles, I eventually picked up on the elements that are valued by the Journalism community. This article was the first one that I finally received a good grade on. Throughout the semester, we had talked about the idea of “showing, not telling,” and I believe that the statistics and quotes that I provide accomplish this. I never state my personal opinions about the matter; rather, the data and quotes themselves tell a powerful story. It was in writing this article that I finally incorporated quotes in a way that successfully transitioned the topic and drove the story along.
