New Contacts and Communities

This was the first college paper I wrote, and it contained elements that I perceived to be indicative of “control of the language.” As I have mentioned elsewhere in this portfolio, I thought “control of the language” meant presenting an authoritative, confident tone, and that is exactly what is projected here. Looking back at this paper, I was a little embarrassed by the bold, definitive way that I made some very interesting (and perhaps a bit out-there!) proposals. In terms of the content itself, this paper largely consists of quotes and paraphrasing; it is not until the final paragraph that I actually present the substance of my main argument.
