“Examination of the Essence of Humanity in William Wegman’s Works.” FYS 101: Introduction to Performance Theory, Professor Herman Rapaport: Fall 2015.
In this paper, I explored the meaning behind William Wegman’s works. My explanations of Wegman’s works seem very clear and detailed, but my summaries of the underlying meanings behind those works contain many nominalizations and complex forms of words. Similar to the History paper, this paper contains un-hedged, definitive proposals about the deeper meanings behind the works. It appears as if I tried to use complex sentence structure and bigger words in an attempt to project a knowledgeable and authoritative stance, in order to prove to my professor that I had engaged with the material. This was the only paper I wrote during the semester that I received an A for. I thought that A was a mark of my achievement of finally becoming a “good” writer.
