The second long-term solution recommended to the Homeowner's Association is to do away with the pond and return the area back to a stream, which was the state of the system before the neighborhood development. This would completely eradicate their issues with the fountains not working, algae and aquatic vegetation, as well as be a maintenance-free solution for the future. The obstacles with this plan is the fact that the residents of the neighborhood love the fountains in the ponds and consider it an icon of their neighborhood and neighborhood identity, as well as the cost being potentially high depending on what grants and external funding could be acquired.
