Vinton County Airport to Host Airshow, Chicken Dinner on Sept. 20

The Vinton County Airport will host the "greatest little airshow in Southeast Ohio" on Sunday, Sept. 20.

The show features several aerobatic performances, a Santa Claus skydiver, airplane candy drop for the kids, and remote-controlled planes and jets all packed into one afternoon.

Gates open at 12:30 p.m. with the show running from 1 to 4:30 p.m. Parking is $10 with proceeds going to support the Vinton County Airport. Chicken dinners wil be available for purchase at $15 each plus limited airplane ride tickets available at $40 each.

Zaleski Firefighters Hosting Annual Fish Fry, Park Grand-Reopening on Sept. 26

The Zaleski Volunteer Fire Department will commemorate the grand-reopening of Zaleski Memorial Park with its annual Fish Dinner Fundraiser on Saturday, Sept. 26.

The event will be at the fire department at 144 N. Second Street in Zaleski from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The updated park features a new picnic area and green space, updated restrooms, and a playground for the kids. The event will also feature a cruise-in with classic cars, hot rods, motorcycles and ATVs. 

Fried fish dinners will be available at $15 each. Dinners include a side, drink and dessert. Proceeds help support the Zaleski Volunteer Fire Department.

Celebrate Local Paranormal History During the Midnight At Moonville Festival Oct. 9-10

The annual Midnight at Moonville Festival returns to the streets of Zaleski Friday and Saturday, Oct. 9-10.

Midnight at Moonville celebrates the local paranormal activity at the nearby Moonville Tunnel.

The two-day event features old-time wrestling with a wrestling vampire, paranormal investigations, and the Midnight at Moonville Deadman Dash 5K, happening on Saturday, Oct. 10 at 10 a.m. 

The event also includes dozens of art, craft and food vendors, inflatables for the kids, and horse-drawn wagon rides.

47th Annual Fall Hike at Lake Hope Slated for Oct. 17

The 47th annual Fall Hike at Lake Hope will take place Saturday, Oct. 17 starting at 10 a.m.

The 3.2-mile hike follows the Furnace Trail, starting at the Shelter House on the trail's southern trailhead and finishing near the Hope Iron Furnace. The trail does not loop, but hikers will be shuttled back to the Shelter House area. Bean soup and cornbread will be available immediately after the hike.

There is no cost to join the hike. Both guided and self-guided hike options are available. Contact Lake Hope ODNR Naturalist, Kaylin Callander, at 740-596-4938 for more information. 

Vinton County Nonprofit Assists Local Cancer Patients

The Vinton County Cancer Research Group has been helping members of the community who are battling cancer since 2017.

VCCRG helps Vinton County cancer patients by providing gas and food cards regardless of income. Patients must be Vinton County residents and show proof of cancer-related appointments in order to receive assistance.
