The village blacksmith workshop is shown on the 1887 OS map above next to the school at the east end of the village. There was a Reading Room adjoining and the site is now occupied by The White House and Blacksmith's Cottage. No early photographs found as yet. It is not known at present whether the smithy was always at this location.
