Doomsday

The main Doomsday Survey of 1086 has very little on this area. However, the survey was carried out in areas and then these regional records were all collated into the one main document.

The survey for the south west survives in Exeter Cathedral's Library and has now been digitised and made available via this link :

The first one is for nearby Winterborne Monkton : (to the east side of Martinstown)

The one below does relate to Winterbourne Abbas which was part of the Cerne Abbey estate

The last one refers to Winterborna on the South Winterbourne river in the Cullifordtree Hundred which is to the east of the area and probably refers to Winterborne Faringdon or Came both further down the South Winterbourne.
