Week 3 Notes to Parents:
Keep up with 10 minutes each school day on practicing multiplication tables! Lots of games for this here: https://www.multiplication.com/games/all-games
pages 5-7
Factor trees are a helpful visual tool in sixth-grade mathematics for understanding the prime factorization of a given number. To create a factor tree, start with the given number at the top and then break it down into its prime factors by continually splitting it into smaller prime numbers. Each branch of the tree represents a factorization step, and the process continues until all the branches lead to prime numbers. Factor trees provide a clear and organized way for students to decompose numbers into their prime components, aiding in the development of prime factorization skills. This visual representation makes it easier for sixth-grade students to grasp the concept of prime factors and enhances their overall understanding of number theory.
PLEASE NOTE: We are trying to encourage students to use scrap paper and a pencil for their work when they are completing their IXL math. Students should bring in their scrap paper so we can look at their work (and reward them with Hi-Chews haha)!
