Week 2 Notes to Parents:
We have noticed that the students would REALLY benefit from practice with their multiplication tables. The website LINKED HERE has lots of FREE GAMES for the kids to practice their math facts. We would recommend them spending 10 minutes each school day on practicing their multiplication tables! https://www.multiplication.com/games/all-games
pages 3-5
The Greatest Common Factor (GCF) of two or more numbers is the largest positive integer that divides each of the numbers without leaving a remainder. In other words, it's the greatest number that can evenly divide all the given numbers. For example, the GCF of 12 and 18 is 6 because 6 is the largest number that divides both 12 and 18 without any remainder.
The Least Common Multiple (LCM) of two or more numbers is the smallest positive integer that is a multiple of each of the numbers. It's the smallest common multiple that the numbers share. For instance, the LCM of 4 and 6 is 12 because 12 is the smallest number that is evenly divisible by both 4 and 6.
Both GCF and LCM are fundamental concepts in number theory and play a crucial role in various mathematical operations and problem-solving scenarios.
PLEASE NOTE: We are trying to encourage students to use scrap paper and a pencil for their work when they are completing their IXL math. Students should bring in their scrap paper so we can look at their work (and reward them with Hi-Chews haha)!
