Health and Safety

Westmorland Dowsers hold public liability insurance with Zurich as a "not-for- profit" organisation. This applies only to official events on the WD programme and not other events organised by members.  You are responsible for your own safety, health and wellbeing on all events.

We are obliged to carry out health and safety risk assessments before starting any activity.  Our field visit risk assessments identify the following hazards affecting our members and visitors:  slips, trips and falls:  hypothermia, exposure/too much sun; animal/insect bites or stings.  Participants will be advised of any specific risks.  Please remember that some hazards, such as the presence of livestock, can vary from day to day so additional precautions may need to be taken.

No dogs are allowed at meetings.

We advise our members to wear appropriate footwear and clothing suitable for Cumbrian weather. Please bring sunscreen and insect repellent as necessary. We will advise you as to the nearest parking, café and toilet facilities but please bring snacks and drink for the dowsing session and a packed lunch if you wish.

Any member bringing a guest to a meeting must ensure that they are made aware of this health and safety advice (especially footwear and clothing) prior to the event.

You may like to give next of kin contact details to the meeting leader in case of emergency.

For the sake of your safety, please stay with the group and check out with the leader when you leave.
