DUE TO THE ONGOING COVID-19 PANDEMIC, THE CHURCH BUILDING IS CLOSED FOR WORSHIP AT PRESENT. OPENING TIMINGS WILL BE UPDATED SOON.
Wesley Church has taken part in a number of mission projects over the years, responding to specific needs while sharing God's love. Here are some recent examples.
Agents of Change - We encourage our young members to support charitable organisations and make a difference to the outside world. For instance, they have learnt about the lives of farmers in Sierra Leone and supported them by raising funds through a coffee morning, partnering with the charity ‘All We Can’ (www.allwecan.org.uk).
Ghana - We have had a long-standing relationship with Amankwatia, a village in Ghana. We raised money to build a water borehole and toilet block, and more recently we raised funds to deliver some computers and a power generator for the village school. Fred from Wesley was there for a handover ceremony recently.
Individual mission projects - Wesley supports individual members in their mission endeavours, working with agencies such as Tearfund. These have included mission work in Colombia, Malawi and Haiti.
Eco Church - We are trying to make sure our church is good news for God’s earth and becomes more environmentally friendly. Some members produced some beautiful Christmas gift boxes from recycled Christmas cards. One of our Junior Church members, aged 11, wrote a very thoughtful letter to the church about how much paper is wasted in the form of Christmas wrappings every year, and encouraged all of us to use recycled paper for gift wrapping. Some of our church members walk or cycle to church in order to reduce the pollution caused by traffic. And many more initiatives....
84QR Community and charity hub - Wesley’s continuing mission is increasingly focused on the development of 84 Queen’s Road in partnership with a number of local charities. See Wesley Projects.
