Who do I ask about things in Wesley Church?
The stewards are the 'public face' of the church, and you can ask them anything! They won't have all the answers, of course, but can guide you to others who will. There is a steward on duty for every Sunday service, so, if in doubt, talk to the one who stood at the front at the beginning of the service.
You can find more information about the stewards team and what they look like on a board in the welcome area of the church.
How do I join a small group?
The groups for Bible study and fellowship are described on the Small groups page. Each has a leader or co-coordinator. If you're not sure who they are, ask a steward to guide you.
Supposing there isn't a small group when I can meet?
Challenge us! Talk to us. There might be room to start a new group; you might have to lead it, though! Start by raising it with the stewards.
What does the pastoral care worker do?
The pastoral care worker is employed by the circuit to assist the minister of Whitley and Wesley churches in the care of their people.
If I am no longer able to come to church, could someone visit me at home?
The pastoral care worker visits at home anyone who is unable to attend due to old age or illness. If you are unable to attend for any other reasons you can ask the pastoral care worker, the minister or your pastoral carer for a visit.
How do I request pastoral care?
Church members are placed in 'classes' with a named person looking after several people. People who attend church regularly are also looked after in this way.
Do I need to be a member to receive pastoral care?
No, but as a member you receive a membership ticket with the name of the minister and your class leader whereas regular attendees do not get this and therefore may not know who their pastoral carer is.
What is church membership?
Membership is a way of making a firm commitment to the church in which you worship and where you belong.
Do I have to become a member?
No. You can play a full part in our worship and activities without being a member. There are some roles for which you need to be a member, such as church steward.
How do I become a member of Wesley Church?
Talk to the minister or a steward first. The minister will arrange 'membership classes' to prepare for the special service of 'reception into membership'.
If you have moved to Wesley and are a member of another church, your membership can be transferred.
Can I be baptised in Wesley Church?
