DUE TO THE ONGOING COVID-19 PANDEMIC, THE CHURCH BUILDING IS CLOSED FOR WORSHIP AT PRESENT. OPENING TIMINGS WILL BE UPDATED SOON.
A chance for parents and toddlers to meet each other.
Meets in Wesley church hall between 10.00-11.30am on Mondays (except Bank Holidays). Play, drinks, biscuits, story-time. £1 charge.
The children spend the time playing and the mums and dads get to know each other over tea and coffee. The older children eventually leave to go to pre-school, but some come back during the holidays. We invite parents to Church events such as the Christingle service, Sunday school party, coffee mornings, and the Good Friday craft morning.

‘Bed for the Night’ is a night shelter run in the winter months by local churches in Reading, led by Faith Christian Group. Started in January 2015, the scheme uses a rota of local church venues, each providing a team of volunteers. Camp beds, duvets and pillows are moved from venue to venue each day. Guests are served a hot evening meal and breakfast, and are offered various activities, an opportunity to chat, or simply time to rest and have a good sleep. For further information, visit https://abedforthenight.org.uk/
Traidcraft is an important part of Wesley's mission activity. There is a Traidcraft stall approximately once a month on a Sunday morning with a range of food and household items. Through our Traidcraft links, we have supported projects in Amankwatia, a village in Ghana (see the Wesley Missions page under ‘Wesley Connects’.) For more information about Traidcraft, click here.
Every year we organise a free Big Lunch in co-operation with a neighbouring church, St Andrew’s URC, usually in June in a local park, Eldon Square. This lunch is an open invitation to everyone in the community, and a wonderful opportunity to share God's love with them.
The timeless story of the birth of Jesus Christ in the gospels is retold with excitement every year during Christmas time. Members of Wesley Methodist Church and St Andrews URC, both young and old, dress up as the nativity characters and sing carols around the neighbourhood. Goody bags are made with love to share with our community the good news of the birth of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. We end on a note of cheer and Christmas warmth with hot soup at St Andrews. Our walking nativity has a special attraction every year, which many people love to witness and be part of. Watch this space for updates for next year.
During the summer we hold coffee & cake mornings in the garden (weather permitting) or the church hall on the last Saturday in the month, from 10.00 till 12.00.
No admission charge, but donations go to various charities such as 'Action for Children' (www.actionforchildren.org.uk). The first one is on Easter Saturday and the last one, in September, is in support of the 'Macmillan Big Coffee Morning' (coffee.macmillan.org.uk).
These are opportunities for fellowship and to welcome passers-by from the neighbourhood.
