Wesley and the Christian Community

Wesley is part of the universal church – the worldwide Christian community. We have formal and informal links with many churches and Christian organisations locally and across the world. Formally, we are a member of the Methodist Church of Great Britain (see below).

Local links

Wesley has a fruitful partnership with St Andrew's United Reformed Church, London Road. Our collaborations have included the Diamond Jubilee street lunch in 2012, and a Big Lunch every year since then, and the Walking Nativity around local streets.

Wesley also has links with Transform Reading (formerly Reading Christian Network), an ecumenical grouping of churches of all denominations within the Reading area. Leaders of the churches meet regularly to pray, and there are occasional joint celebrations.

Churches also work together for co-ordinated outreach to the town, including Street Pastors, Churches in Reading Drop-In Centre (CIRDIC), Christian Community Action (CCA), and REinspired, a charity working in local schools.

The Methodist circuit
