My second time volunteering in Ghana and my most enjoyable placement with this excellent team. Communication from day one was great and regular group chats with all involved was very welcome and reassuring.
On arrival in Tafo I was met by all the team and Dina the cook prepared a superb meal! (Everyday breakfast and dinner was provided with traditional Ghanaian dishes, so delicious!).
I chose to help with teaching and English reading at the local primary school during the day and also got involved with the boys football training. in addition I also attended the girls empowerment club running in the neighbouring village with the wonderful Irene, a true star providing a valuable place for the girls to learn and be able to discuss anything.
We managed to begin a new girls club back in Tafo which will grow and help the village too.
Eric works very hard running the hostel and looking after the boys, helped with by a strong team of coaches and overseen by Christian.
If you're a solo traveller, a newbie, or yet to visit Africa then this placement is perfect! Ghana is a beautiful and a very safe place to be with welcoming people everywhere you go. The culture, the cuisine, the sites and the glorious sunshine are so nice you won't want to leave!
Thank you all and see you soon.
