Flora Muhi - 2023
What a truly amazing and unforgettable two weeks I spent with this Organisation!
This was my first volunteer experience after a long time, which naturally meant that I was nervous to start with.
However, even before my trip commenced, the volunteer coordinators Rory and Greg had made sure that I had all the necessary information to begin with.
Despite the initial culture shock, settling in went smoothly, as I received full support from the amazing Eric and the rest of the team, from day one.
From airport pickup, through tasty authentic meals and modest accommodation provided, to local excursions in Tafo and surrounding areas - They made sure I had everything I needed. Needless to say, It's not often being able to meet such selfless human beings!
I had the pleasure of participating in several projects my favorite being: teaching and learning dancing and drumming at the Cultural Centre three times a week. The enthusiasm and kindness of the children was truly priceless.
I also taught English and dancing at the local Primary School, where I worked together with awesome teachers and kids. - Even with little experience, but an open mind and some preparation, it's a life-changing experience!
Lastly, I had the opportunity to visit the Girls Foundation - an important project focusing on empowering, supporting, and teaching young girls.
I am hoping I will have the chance to come back and meet every one of these amazing people again!
