When you become a follower of the Christ, everything changes:
Life gets easier
People treat you better
Money just seams to never be an issue
Nobody lies to you
Justice always seems to win out.
This is what people seem to expect, but it is not what was promised. You will have hardship in your life. You will face injustice and deceit throughout your life. In short, there will be storms. It is not a question of IF but rather WHEN they will come. What will happen to you and the life you build when they arrive? Every brick you use to build that life will be imperfectly formed; tainted in some way. Some will be better than others. The structure of your life will be flawed from the very beginning. The only thing that gives us true hope of that structure holding firm is the foundation we build it upon.
If we build our lives based on the world's ideas of right and wrong, good and bad, security and insecurity, then it is like building your house on the sand at the beach. WHEN the storms come, the foundation will wash out from under the walls and the whole thing can come crashing down.
If we build our lives based on the teachings of Jesus and the revealed Word of God in the Bible, then it is like digging down to bedrock and anchoring a firm foundation to it to build you house on. Even though the individual bricks may be imperfect and flawed, the foundation holds firm and the house stands strong.
The storms WILL come. Will you be ready for them?
“Therefore everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts on them, may be compared to a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and slammed against that house; and yet it did not fall, for it had been founded on the rock. Everyone who hears these words of Mine and does not act on them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. The rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and slammed against that house; and it fell—and great was its fall.” Matthew 7:24-27 NASB
