1. Course registration will be carried out online and verified in the classroom LH-06, LHC, NITK West side campus at course hour.

3. All registrants are required to refresh prerequisite subjects listed in the course plan. Recommended to refer to E-book mason.pdf.
4. Obtain email under the domain: .nitk.edu.in
5. Access course material through links provided in IRIS software.
Tutorial Announcements:
1. There will be tutorial sessions to refresh registrants on Power system fault analysis and relay coordination procedures.
2. These tutorials will be conducted during regular classes initially from 2nd Week to 08th Week and later for specified class hour which will be notified.
3. All registrants are required to record tutorial exercises in separate A4 size booklet (NITK Sessional marks record booklet). This booklet shall be submitted after completion of every tutorials and evaluated under Assignment component of evaluation.
Assignment Announcements:
1. Multiple Assignments will be given as a part of course evaluation component to enhance learning.
2. Assignments will be of three components, namely: A. Written / work out exercises, B. Lab exercises, C. Computer simulation / program exercises
3. All registrants are required to record written exercise and lab exercise assignments in A4 Size booklet and submit for evaluation.
4. Computer simulation / program exercises shall be submitted in a common CD for whole class through class representative.

Assignment - A.1
1. Illustrate Plug setting and Time setting procedures in over-current relays considering practical line protection coordination. The coordination exercise shall involve SCC Calculation, Phase fault and Ground fault relay coordination with appropriate CT / PT in a sub transmission line of 11kV. Calculation shall be elaborate accounting fault clearing time in each case.

Study Assignment - A.3
1. Study Operating principle of following sub components of Data Acquisition Systems:
a. Optical Current Transducer, b. HECT & HEVT, c. High Speed design consideration parameters of S/H & Hold Capacitor selection criteria. d. Design considerations of Analog Mux. d. Sigma - Delta A/D converters.
Note:Study Assignment will not have submission components, but appears as short questions in Mid / End Sem examination.

Assignment - B.1
1. Numerical Relay Lab experiment demonstration will be done from 01/10 onward at #202, VI lab, EEE Department.
2. All Attendants are required register your names in a group of three each, with Mr.James Pinto, Research Scholar, #D-202, Micro Grid Lab, NITK Main Building.
3. Each group is required to fix up the lab schedule of three hours per group as per mutual availability and conduct experiments.

Mid Sem Exam Question paper Pattern
1. Mid sem question paper pattern is briefed below for your guidance:
a. 5 marks x 3 = 15 marks questions on enumeration of relaying concepts, Short Circuit Current Calculation related numerical problems.
b. 10 marks x 1 = 10 marks question on Design & development of relay hardware.

Assignment - C.1
1. Write MATLAB or C or C++ or Python programs to evaluate following algorithms: 2 samples,3 samples, Half Cycle Window Fourier and Full cycle Window Fourier. Evaluate their relative performance under random noise, harmonic noise and decaying dc signal conditions. Evaluate them based on frequency response as well.
2. Write programs to simulate all exercises 1 - 8 under the heading: Review questions of Lecture slide L9.Fourier Algorithms by Prof.S.A.Soman.
3. Write a program to determine frequency of single phase Voltage Phasor and Positive Sequence Voltage Phasors using DFT technique.
4. Please note that, following must be submitted in a CD on 02nd Nov, 10am by CR with regard to Assignment - C.1:
i. CD Label : Course number, Course title Semester duration (eg.ODD.SEM.2019.EE700)
ii. CD Content having folders as per the roll number of each registrant as 19PSxxF.
iii. Each folder content shall be: Simulation programs in MATLAB written with proper file name, commented and indented properly.
