The project titled "Development and Pilot Production of Nano-ZnO for Electronics and Deep-Desulpharisation applications" was sponsored by DST, Govt. of India with a total outlay of Rs. 69.92 lakhs. The project commenced on 17.09.2011 and completed successfully on 16.03.2014. In this project, a pilot spray calcination facility for the synthesis of nanopowders of ZnO was established. Nano ZnO thus synthesized were further used for the development of deep-desulpharisation adsorbant by the industrial collaborator, M/S SUD-CHEMIE India Pvt.Ltd., Cochin. Desulpharistion adsorbant developed using nano ZnO were found to exhibit enhanced catalytic activity when compared to that developed using commercially available ZnO powder.
