The project titled "Development and pilot production of Nano-PZT compositions and Piezoceramic components for Underwater SONAR Transducers, Ultrasonic, and Medical applications" was sponsored by MeitY with a total outlay of Rs. 205.30 lakhs. The project commenced on 01.03.2011 and completed successfully on 31.08.2014. In this project, modified piezoelectric compositions based on Pb(Zr1-x,Tix)O3 were synthesized by chemical precipitation method. Such synthesized nanopowders were used for fabricating piezoceramic components (PZT Rings, PZT plates and PZT discs). PZT Rings fabricated here were used for transducer fabrication for SONAR applications by Keltron, Kuttippuram at NPOL, Cochin. These transducers were further subjected to underwater testing and passed all system level tests and were qualified for Naval applications.
