BSTO Thin film

The project titled "BSTO Thin films for space communication systems" was sponsored by ISRO, Govt. of India, with a total outlay of Rs. 2.00 lakhs. The project commenced on 17.02.2003 and completed successfully on 16.02.2004.

Ferroelectric thin films based on BaTiO3 are important in the context of applications in phase-shifters for space communications. Their choice for these applications result from the tunability of their capacitance as a function of an applied DC bias voltage. In this project, (Ba1-xSrx)TiO3 thin films suitable for tunable device applications were successfully developed for Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). Thin-films developed were tested and approved by Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre[VSSC], Trivandrum for phase shifter applications.
