Deforestation

The main cause of deforestation is the expansion of industrial agriculture (83%) - of which 40% is cleared directly for livestock grazing, and 50% for soy and oil palm crops. 76% of soy is used for animal feed, and only 20% for human consumption, making animal agriculture the primarily driver of soy production and the deforestation associated with the crop.
