“And when he turns away, he strives throughout the land to cause corruption therein and to destroy crops and animals. And Allah does not like corruption.”

“There is no compulsion in religion. Verily, the right path has become distinct from error. Whoever disbelieves in false gods and believes in Allah has grasped the most trustworthy handhold that will never break. And Allah is All-Hearing, All-Knowing.”

“And surely I will mislead them, and surely I will arouse desires in them, and surely I will command them so they will slit the ears of cattle, and surely I will command them so they will change the creation of Allah. And whoever takes Satan as an ally instead of Allah has certainly suffered a clear loss.”

“And there is no creature on earth nor bird that flies with its wings except that they are communities like you. We have not neglected in the Book a thing. Then unto their Lord they will be gathered.”

“And He it is who produces gardens, trellised and untrellised, and date-palms and crops of different shape and taste, and olives and pomegranates, similar and dissimilar. Eat of their fruit when they ripen, and give their due on the day of harvest, and do not be wasteful; indeed, Allah does not love the wasteful.”

“O Children of Adam! Take your adornment at every masjid, and eat and drink, but do not be excessive. Indeed, He does not love the extravagant.”

“And He created the cattle for you; in them there is warmth and (other) benefits, and from them you eat. And in them there is beauty for you when you bring them home in the evening and when you take them out to pasture in the morning. And they carry your loads to a land you could not have reached except with hardship. Indeed, your Lord is Gentle, Merciful. And (He created) horses, mules, and donkeys for you to ride and as adornment. And He creates that which you do not know.”

“And the camels and cattle We have appointed for you as among the symbols of Allah; for you therein is good. So mention the name of Allah upon them when they are lined up (for sacrifice). Then when they fall on their sides, eat of them and feed the needy who are content and the one who begs. Thus We have subjected them to you, that you may be grateful.”

“Neither their meat nor their blood reaches Allah. Rather, it is your piety that reaches Him.”

“Have you seen he who has taken his own desire as his god, and Allah has sent him astray knowingly, and has sealed his hearing and his heart, and placed a covering over his sight? Who then can guide him after Allah? Will you not then take heed?”

“And the heaven He raised and established the balance, so that you may not transgress the balance. And establish weight in justice and do not make deficient the balance.”

“And the earth He has laid out for all living beings.”

“And there is no creature on earth except that its provision is upon Allah, and He knows its place of dwelling and its place of storage. All is in a clear Book.”

“May Allah curse the one who disfigures an animal.”

“Whoever curses an animal, he himself will be cursed by God.”

“If someone kills so much as a sparrow, or anything larger, without a just cause, Allah Almighty will ask him about it on the Day of Resurrection.”

“A woman was tortured and put into Hell because of a cat she had kept locked until it died of hunger.”

“Allah forgave her because she gave water to a dog that was dying of thirst.”

“There is a reward for serving any living being.”

“A good deed done to an animal is like a good deed done to a human being, and an evil deed done to an animal is like an evil done to a human being.”

“Anyone who shows mercy, even to an animal meant for slaughtering, will be shown mercy by Allah on the Day of Rising.”

“The merciful are shown mercy by the Most Merciful. Be merciful to those on earth and the One above the heavens will be merciful to you.”

“Do you want to kill it twice? Why did you not sharpen the knife before?”

(Said when he ﷺ saw a man sharpening a knife in front of a sheep.)

“Allah will not give mercy to anyone except those who give mercy to other creatures.”

“Where there is an abundance of vegetables, a host of angels will descend upon that place.”

“Spending three dirhams in charity is more dear to us than offering Udhiyah.”

“I abstain from offering Udhiyah even though I am able, fearing that my neighbor would think it obligatory.”

“I would not care if I slaughtered a rooster; spending that cost on an orphan or a poor person is more dear to me than offering Udhiyah.”

“If you had mercy on the sheep, Allah will have mercy on you twice.”

(A man said: “O Messenger of Allah, I would have slaughtered a sheep but I had mercy on it.”)
