Project Plan

Before you set out to develop a website you need to think about some essential elements

Business context

  • Who is the business/client?

    • Use the scenario to write a summary of what the business/client does.

  • Why do they need a website?

  • What does the business/client hope to achieve?

Target Audience

This is a DETAILED description of WHO you think will visit the site and would look at

  1. Who are the existing customers?

  2. Who are the new customers that they would like to attract?

and should include details like,

  • demographics (age, gender, ethnicity, etc.),

  • local, regional, national customers,

  • tourists,

  • people wanting a particular experience, e.g.,

    • for a café - Māori Kai, Asian, Thai, Chinese, Indian, etc.,

    • for a Action Tourism operation - Thrill seeking, back to Nature, Sea Adventure, etc.

  • people with particular needs, e.g.,

    • for a café - Vegetarian, Fish, Hamburger, Steak, etc.;

    • for a Computer Sales Company - Home User, Business user, etc.

  • their computer literacy,

  • likely devices they would use,

  • etc.
