Many studies have looked at the healthiest places to live in the United States. In every one of them Vermont scores at or near the top.
One yearly analysis entitled America’s Health Rankings by the United Health Foundation (http://www.americashealthrankings.org/states) looked at many factors including obesity, smoking, diabetes and physical inactivity. Vermont came in second after Hawaii.
Another analysis by Statemaster.com, found that Vermont is the healthiest state in the nation. State rankings were based on a 21 factors regarding access to healthcare providers, affordability and a generally healthy population. Only two states scored above 20. Vermont at 22.7 and nearby New Hampshire with 21.4.
The average rating was 2.1.
It was possible to get a negative rating, which 21 states did. Louisiana, once again, came in last with a -21.
