"A Holy War in my name!"
It began with the murder of a goddess.
Agape's body was found hanging before the Axiamin temple, fracturing the species she once united. Hatred seeped into the World’s THREADS, birthing Malum Vita. Accusations flew against the Great Father, who remained silent. Enraged, the Axiamins demanded justice, and the Arthrakes—the Great Father’s people—met their fury with equal force.
Thus began The Nameless War (1703).
This conflict was so devastating it was forbidden to name, growing from a clash over divine honor. Each side, driven by unyielding devotion to their god, saw reason dissolve into vengeance. Periodic truces arose only to replenish ranks, with fighting resuming as soon as hatred rekindled. The toll was unimaginable: 60% of Tellus’s oceans vanished, leaving barren deserts where waters once lay—new battlegrounds for relentless slaughter.
Heroes rose and fell, their names lost to time. The war, once rooted in faith, devolved into mindless destruction and the pursuit of revenge. Nations enslaved entire races and slaughtered creatures like dragons for resources to sustain a war that had long since lost its cause.
A war without reason is a war waged to find one.
Humanity, ever driven by survival, seized the chance to end the war as the Nameless devastated land and sea. Though initially in hiding, a revolt led by the Great Families of the Horizon Cities drafted millions of humans into the conflict, hoping to become the deciding force. At first, the Axiamins and Arthrakes were taken aback by this unexpected rival, but soon the infernos of war became an unstoppable storm.
Humanity was swiftly consumed by the brutality. Their finest soldiers were lost to stray bullets and acts of god, while the Axiamins enslaved others, sacrificed as fuel for the fires of endless battle.
Others, however, chose to distance themselves from the war, and in search for peace, wandered the world looking for safe havens to protect their kind from the horrors that haunted Tellus.
As humanity cemented its role as an indispensable third faction, even arming itself with Axiamin technology, the Arthrakes faced the specter of near-total annihilation. The arrival of the Machina, a relentless race of mechanical warriors created by the Axiamin, escalated the conflict to unprecedented levels. The war raged, pitting mechanical precision against organic resilience, and the extinction of an entire species seemed inevitable.
The turning point came during the Battle of Yinto Le, where chaos reigned supreme. In the heart of the carnage, a Nameless Soul Reaper emerged, uttering a single word: Capere. The sheer power of this utterance obliterated the combined might of the Axiamin, Machina, and humanity in an instant.
In the aftermath, more Soul Reapers appeared, wielding their devastating Capere ability and driving back the overwhelming forces that had dominated the battlefield. Amid the confusion, the Arthrakes seized their chance and retreated to safety, escaping their looming extinction.
The Battle of Yinto Le marked the first appearance of the Soul Eaters, forever altering the trajectory of a century-long war and setting the stage for fragile peace among the warring factions.
The Nameless War concluded not in triumph but in a deafening silence. Decades of relentless bloodshed and fervent religious idealism had disintegrated under the weight of time and collective suffering. Even during its peak, with Vita Energy enabling extraordinary feats on the battlefield, the war's purpose had become an abstract memory. As the years dragged on, disillusionment spread among the ranks. Soldiers, exhausted and demoralized, began defying orders, and this growing insubordination spread trench by trench.
The turning point in the conflict came with the decisive intervention of the Soul Reapers. Neutral in their allegiances yet devastating in their power, the Soul Reapers forcibly halted the fighting. Entire armies were eradicated in their wake, leaving both sides with no choice but to acknowledge the futility of further violence. Their actions created a pause in hostilities, allowing leaders to reflect on the conflict's staggering human and environmental costs.
By the final dawn of the Hour of Light, the ravages of war were unmistakable: once-vibrant oceans had been reduced to scorched and barren wastelands. In the aftermath, a nameless monument was erected to commemorate the peace, standing as a solemn reminder of the war’s devastating consequences.
The path to peace was orchestrated by five pivotal figures, later known as the Architects of Peace:
Queen Decruzifiction R. Yōshanai of Axiamin Purimins.
Queen Iseul Eun-Kyrung of Axiamin Kiamins.
Queen Henora Vrae of Arthrakes.
Sword-Saint Irina di Aeglieri, representing humanity.
Abysswalker Zenith, a Soul Eater who mediated the agreement.
On March 16, 1808, these leaders convened to sign The New Dawn Treaty, formally bringing the conflict to an end. The treaty introduced sweeping reforms designed to ensure lasting peace:
Cessation of Hostilities: A universal agreement to cease all acts of war.
Unified Trade System: The establishment of a shared currency to promote trade between nations.
United Nations World Council: A governing body that meets annually to facilitate diplomacy and resolve disputes
The Vanguard Peacekeepers: A neutral force tasked with maintaining global stability.
Regulation of Vita and Aurite: Strict oversight of these powerful resources to prevent their misuse.
Decommissioning of Rogue Machinas: The dismantling of autonomous weapons left over from the war.
Recognition of the Inverted City: The Soul Eaters and their home were acknowledged as an independent nation.
While the treaty was widely celebrated and signed by nearly all nations, one significant exception remained: Ordo Ecclesia. The ecclesian state refused to endorse the agreement, citing ideological differences and unresolved grievances. This rejection left a lingering tension, casting uncertainty over the otherwise hopeful dawn of peace.
The Nameless War gave way to an age of coexistence, but its scars lingered. Nations dissolved as people fled war-torn lands, forming the foundations of today’s states. Vita Energy, once abundant, began to fade as fewer practiced its arts. While some saw this as a safeguard against future wars, others sought to preserve its power.
This led to the creation of the Vanguard, an elite global force tasked with preserving Vita Energy and preventing chaos. Funded by the Union Ersea and Staal Dominion, the Vanguard became peacekeepers, scouts, and the inheritors of Vita's legacy.
Now, in the year 1923, recruits from across the world train together in their central academy, Grand Calvary in Union Ersea, forging bonds beyond borders. This institution promised a future where new heroes would rise—not to vanish into forgotten wars but to be Named and remembered for their deeds.
