"There was a gospel of prayers amongst the small cult as they raised their hands to the beheaded head of a Dragon skull. "Lord!" They cried as they bowed to the fell shadows of a thickening darkness. "Lord... When will you return to us? Will it be in death again? Or flame and fury?"
Origin
Dragons. Such a word that could only phrase the most majesty of beings, the most elegance and the most recognizable. Their wings would touch the heavens and back, their breath could spew the very THREADS themselves, leaving behind magical asunder to all those who opposed them. Tragically their legacy would only end in bitterness as the Nameless kept dragging on and on. Further into the fouler pits of deprivation as factions sought their scales, fabric and claws for materials to further a war effort.
A proud race ridiculed into harvest for soldiers who were proclaimed to be the ender of the war; But for those effected they would know too well, that a weapon to end war is a weapon to continue war. All that’s left were the half breeds who were deemed unfit for harvesting and even then, their blood kept diluting as more and more had to leave their war torn homelands. A dying race whose ancestors once soared the skies.
Appearances
Due to them being half breeds, Wyrmkins do not bear any of the major traits that would otherwise relate them to the great reptiles. However they do retain their iconic horns and some even have reptilian skin.
Though these reptilian skin variants are often the by product of major inbreeding due to the race desperately wanting to retain their Draconic blood. The more inbreed the Wyrmkin are, the more lizard like they look.
Dragon History
Dragons are often regulated as the closest mortal creatures to the divine. Coming in various sizes, those winged reptiles showcased what it means to still hold a Origin Gene. Origin Genes are powerful genetics that LINKS the soul to the past, during the Era of Beasts. When monsters roamed Tellus. Instead of giving them up to survive in an era of mankind, the proud Dragons still hold onto it. This would be their undoing.
At the height of the Nameless, resources were scarce. More and more people were realizing the power of the body. Leading to mass harvesting of monsters and beasts, with Dragons taking the worst of it. The Wyrmkin is a descendant of the Dragons who gave up their Origin to fit into the rapidly human dominated world. At the end of the Nameless, if there were any Dragons; They would never touch the skies again.
The Terror of the Skies, shortly being eleminated by Sword Saint Irina di Aeglieri.
"Kaiho:- Disperse the Gods Below, Purge, Undora."
All Wyrmkin have the ability to summon scales to a portion of their body.
Despite being far in relevance to their draconic ancestry, Wyrmkin are still able to summon a fraction of that power. They can summon scales from deep within their bodies, defending certain portions of their bodies with these hardened scales. These hardened scales are incredibly tough. Capable of resisting a standard bold action rifle. In exchange for this tougheness it also makes it draining for the user to maintain it.
These scales can be trained, but it often takes years for Wyrmkin to cover major portions of their body. Draconic Blood is said to be connected to the brain so typically the most straightforward way for Wyrmkin to unlock more of their Dragon Scales is under stressful situations or innate talent.
As of now, 90% of all Wyrmkin have their scales due to stressful situations and trainings since the remaining 10% are Wyrmkin's with an above average in ancestry purity. However those Wyrmkins are often hunted down by poachers seeking the power of the ancient dragons.
The state of their culture is that they will do anything to at least achieve even a fraction of the power their ancestors once had. Those Wyrmkin who can cover most of their bodies with these scales are usually the most respected and beloved members.
