The USS EQUINOX is one of the oldest operational Typhoon-class starships still in active service—a brutalist war machine from a different era, rebuilt and refitted for the 25th century. The USS Calcifer draws its name from folklore and fire: an embodiment of controlled chaos and dangerous brilliance. Originally intended as a tactical homage to classic cruiser lineage, her christening was changed mid-construction at the request of then-Admiral T’Zaan, who had witnessed Calcifer’s simulated performance firsthand and quipped, “This ship doesn’t defend stars.
