Kala Janine is controlled chaos in a tactical uniform. A fierce, grounded combatant with a taste for danger, she’s known for being Starfleet’s least diplomatic solution to high-risk missions and the first one in the drop zone. Kala’s not interested in climbing ranks or leading starships. She thrives in the chaos of field work, where the rules are thinner and the explosions louder.

Whether wielding a phaser pistol, flying a shuttle through enemy fire, or leading a squad through hull breaches and firefights, Kala doesn’t flinch. If she’s on your side, you’ll live. If she’s not, you won’t even know what hit you.

Though her record includes multiple promotions, she has a habit of intentionally tanking her own rank... not out of rebellion, but to avoid the burden of command. She’s the kind of officer who shows up in the right place at the wrong time, guns blazing with a grin, and definitely leans into her Romulan side.

EARLY LIFE AND STARFLEET ACADEMY

Kala was raised on a Starship unlike her younger sister Rahhmi, three years her junior. From a young age, Kala was known for her sharp mind, quicker fists, and a near-magnetic pull toward danger. While Rahhmi was the curious observer and social manipulator, Kala was the explosive result when diplomacy failed.. usually on purpose. Though tactically brilliant, Kala had little patience for politics or protocol. She showed a natural talent for battle situations and live combat drills, and she quickly gained a reputation at Starfleet Academy for her brutal efficiency and tactical unpredictability. Her instructors jokingly called her “a high-yield torpedo with legs.” She adopted it as a slogan.

PERSONALITY AND RELATIONSHIPS

Kala is smart, sharp-tongued, and unafraid to call things as she sees them, usually with a fist. She’s been called “tactically unhinged,” but her instincts are rarely wrong. Her sister, Rahhmi, has described her as “anger mismanagement personified”, but with undeniable results. Despite the fire, Kala has deep loyalty to her crew.

More recently she has been seen hanging out with a known ruffian named Scott, a mysterious, space-armored Brit in white who may or may not be some kind of a merc. He’s typically seen scaling the cargo bay or perched like a gargoyle where he shouldn’t be. She’s also often seen goofing off with the Andorian comms officer Anneloo, whom she once dared to translate an entire diplomatic negotiation using only Klingon mating idioms. The two have been known to hunt for malls whenever a friendly colony or starbase is the current parking space.
