Sustainable Community

What is a sustainable community?

A sustainable community is not just the whole community having solar panels and rainwater tanks; It is a community that works together to help contribute to make the world a better place. A sustainable community involves everyone in that community contributing to a cause. For example, maybe the cause the community is focusing on recycling; then everyone in the community would volunteer to have/use a compost bin. The compost would eventually go back onto the ground instead of a land fill reducing wastage.

A sustainable community should also have public facilities such as swimming pools to reduce water wastage and a community garden to reduce carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. A sustainable community should also have public transportation to reduce the need for cars.

What does a sustainable community look like?

A sustainable community should have a low carbon footprint and also not be wasteful. A sustainable community should have lots of trees and plants not only to make the air cleaner to breathe but also to help get rid of some of that carbon in the atmosphere. Everyone in that community must participate to make it as effective as possible.
