TRAINING AND EXCHANGE EVENT - PT
TRAINING AND EXCHANGE EVENT - PT
Through Learning/teaching/training activities for teachers, we wanted to upskill teachers in promoting European values and diversity in their courses in a more attractive and effective way. The Mobility to Portugal outcomes related to the exchange of knowledge, mainly in terms of cultural traditions and symbols between all partner countries. On the first day, we received partners at school and after the welcome session, all groups followed a guided tour around the school (a planned walkabout). Then the teachers participated in a presentation and forum about school organization models/management of the different partner countries. Before lunch, it was the teachers' turn to get to know the main Portuguese cultural symbols, participating in the visual arts workshop. After lunchtime in the school canteen, there was a planned visit to the nearby city of Aveiro, one of the most emblematic cities from a cultural point of view. During this visit, all teams could explore the city, take a boat trip (the typical Moliceiro) along the river canals, see the salt flats, and taste the typical sweet delight of the city called “Ovos Moles”. At the end of the day, there was also a seaside walk along Costa Nova, where all those who wished it could appreciate a sea bath. The evening brought a nice dinner at a restaurant by the sea.
On day 2 there was a cultural trip to the iconic city of Oporto, the so to say capital city in the North of Portugal, which since 1996 has been classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. During the day, the delegations had the opportunity to visit the Clérigos Tower and explore the historic centre and the riverside area. After lunch by the Douro Riverside, teachers visited the Port Wine Museum. It was interesting to see that the delegations were already able to identify the Portuguese cultural symbols. The dinner took place in S. João da Madeira, co-hosted by the mayor of the city.
As S. João da Madeira is an industrial city, on the third and final day, all partners visited the Viarco Pencil Factory, providing contact with one of the oldest factories in Portugal and which is part of the Industrial Tourism itinerary of our hometown. Both teachers and students participated in the farewell session to hand out certificates of participation and to enjoy some cultural and artistic moments promoted by Portuguese students.
It was the last mobility, therefore, at the end of the session, our students prepared a video presentation with the best moments of the different mobilities carried out under the United in Diversity ER+ Project.
