Vyssi odborna skola pedagogicka a socialni a Stredni pedagogicka skola in Kromeriz (hereinafter Pedagogical School) consists of the Upper Vocational School (offering two courses: Pre-school and Extra curricula pedagogy and Social pedagogy) and Secondary school (offering Pre-school and Extra curricula pedagogy course).

Secondary Pedagogical School provide Pre-school and Extra curricula pedagogy course for students (aged 15-19) who want to become nursery and kindergarten teachers and after-school activities tutors. The four-year study is formally finished by the state school-leaving exam (called Maturita). Apart from general subjects, the core of this study is Pedagogy (pre-school pedagogy and pedagogy of leisure, special pedagogy) and Psychology (general, developmental, personality). Other important subjects are those, which develop the professional competence in the work with children and the youth including Music (playing musical instruments), Arts, Drama, IT, Language and literature tutorial, Physical Training, English and German. Upper Vocational School of Social and Pre-school Pedagogy provide two courses: Pre-school and Extra curricula pedagogy course, which prepares students (secondary school graduates) to become nursery and kindergarten teachers, teachers of leisure, teacher assistants and educators. Social pedagogy – this course prepares students (secondary school graduates) for work in various social and pedagogical facilities and non-profit organisations. The three-year study is formally finished by the state exam (called the Absolutory) with the degree DiS. (diploma specialist).

Both courses are profoundly interlinked with the teaching training. Since year one students take their teaching practice in nursery schools and kindergartens and other facilities offering after-school activities for children and the youth, houses for erderly people, chlidren´s houses, houses for mothers with children.

The Pedagogical School was a local partner in two accomplished Erasmus+ projects Talented Children (concluded in 2015) and EUREKA concluded in 2018). Both projects were aimed at exchange of information and sharing best practice examples in the field of early identification and support for able, gifted and talented children. The role of the school was expert in the area of pedagogy. It consisted of hosting two one-day training events for international group of delegates and participation in similar trainings abroad. The school staff also contributed to the projects outputs like methodology or action plan.

The school offer Erasmus+ mobilities for students of pedagogy and social work, they also are engaged in the eTwinning project “East or West: Discover my school and my town.“ The school have a strong record of accomplishment in implementing projects in the field of pedagogy, research, social work and leadership in education. These projects were/are realized in cooperation with important Universities such Palacký University in Olomouc or Masaryk University in Brno and enabled the school staff to gain experience and knowledge in the area of project management. Music Festival of Pedagogical Schools in the Czech Republic, "Kroměříž without Boundaries" project, Animág Kroměříž contest are the schools´ flagships showing a great engagement in the community not only of teachers but also young people, elderly people, minorities, children from disadvantaged background and others.
