This week in Kindergarten, we spent time getting to know each other. We talked about the role of a school counselor and used Mrs. Potato Head as a visual, to discuss the parts of a good school counselor. (eyes are for watching the students and making sure they're having a good day, ears are for listening, arms are for hugging, giving high fives, helping, etc.) We also watched a "Welcome to Kindergarten" video and discussed what to expect this year, why we have rules, and how to make good choices every day.
Week of 10/18:
This week, we focused on being good listeners and making good choices, which equals having great days at school! We read Howard B. Wigglebottom Learns to Listen and discussed how Howard had a tough day but then turned his day around when he started listening and following directions.
Week of 11/15:
This week we focused on perseverance! We read the book Leo the Ligthening Bug and discussed how difficult it was for Leo to learn to shine his light, but he did not give up. We also sang the song "Don't Give Up", by Bruno Mars.
Week of 12/13: This week we focused on being responsible and making good and safe choices. We read and discussed the book What if Everybody Did That and sang a catchy song called "Be Responsible, Be Safe!"
