This week, we read and discussed The Blue Day Book for Kids by Bradley Trevor Greive. It's such a great book that teaches us strategies for pulling ourselves "out of a blue day and into a NEW day". Everyone experiences blue days...but we don't have to stay there. The students did a great job sharing examples of things that have caused them "blue" days and what they did to help themselves. We also listened to a song from the Trolls Movie about feelings.

This week in 2nd grade, we focused on KINDNESS. We listened to the song "Try a Little Kindness" and brainstormed the many ways that we can show kindness at home, at school, in our communities, etc. Then we read the book Somebody Loves You Mr. Hatch. This is such a sweet story that shows how even an anonymous Valentine can change someone's world and make them feel special. In closing, the students told me ideas they had for showing kindness this week.
