Week of November 30th:

This week, we read and discussed The Blue Day Book for Kids by Bradley Trevor Greive. It's such a great book that teaches us strategies for pulling ourselves "out of a blue day and into a NEW day". Everyone experiences blue days...but we don't have to stay there. The students did a great job sharing examples of things that have caused them "blue" days and what they did to help themselves. We also listened to a song from the Trolls Movie about feelings.

Week of February 15th:

This week, we focused on the very important character trait of Perseverance. We went through a power point presentation that showed various animals demonstrating perseverance. We also discussed famous and familiar people that have had to persevere throughout their life to achieve their goals. (Abraham Lincoln, Walt Disney, Elvis, Babe Ruth, etc) We then read the book The Salt in His Shoes, the story of Michael Jordan, in pursuit of a dream. The kids loved this book and how his mother helped him believe in himself and not give up on his dreams of becoming a basketball star. The students also shared goals that they are currently working towards and what their plans of action are in achieving those goals.
