Hello! Welcome to another school year at Unionville! Here's a little bit about myself: I grew up in Eastern North Carolina and graduated with a bachelor's degree in Middle Grades Education from UNC-Chapel Hill in 1997. After teaching language arts and social studies for 5 years, I decided to go back to school to become a school counselor. So I went to UNC-Charlotte and graduated with an advanced Master's degree in school counseling in 2007. Since then, I have worked as an elementary and middle school counselor. This year begins year my 20th year in education and my 19th year in UCPS and my 7th year at Unionville. I currently live in Unionville with my husband and three children, our amazing German Shepherd named Bear, 3 cats, 7 chickens, and one super cool python named Puddin'. I'm looking forward to a great year!

Mrs. Burnette's office is open to all students and staff. Students are seen based on teacher referrals, parent referrals, and student requests. There is a mailbox outside Mrs. Burnette's door for 4th and 5th grade students to leave request forms. And all classrooms have student requests forms where students can write me notes.
Mrs. Burnette teaches character-based lessons, as well as topics such as bullying, friendship skills, goal-setting, being test ready, mindfulness, and middle school transition.
