01. Introductions
to the people + the course
to the people + the course
Students will be introduced to the course syllabus, which includes a lot of helpful information about the process of the course and how to access materials.
Students will find out more about the professor and share about themselves and the goals for their career as it relates to the course.
a. Go to the Fall 2025 Syllabus on D2L and review it. If you have any questions, connect with Susan by asking in class, setting up an office hour or asking on Discord (if it is not a personal question).
This video will introduce you to Susan Bonner, the course and content.
Important note: After I made the video, the content for the course changed slightly (your calendar and D2L will be unique), I have tried to mark where we are not doing a prototype or design challenge, but instead doing an analysis of a project or game. If you see prototype or design challenge in this course in this video, that may be old information.
You may always connect with Professor Bonner about the most recent content or any questions you have.
Always refer to the website and D2L Checklists for the most recent information and deadlines for your semester. Thanks!
9:07-11:46 The Project timeline is now in the D2L Calendar. (and on the site)(because students requested this)
12:00 Course Description - also review it on the syllabus.
21:30: Fall 2025: meets in COM 246 -(not Bessie!)
21:37: Fall 2025 Both online and hybrid are taught by Susan Bonner
15:33 SusanBonner.org is my site now.
The Syllabus for Fall 2025 can be found in D2L not on the course site.
Discord is the text/video chat program we'll use in the class.
We will submit links to google drive files like Google Slideshows on Discord.
Do not submit files for people to download, that process takes too much time for your users (classmates).
Go to Welcome Read First and review the discord guidelines and rules
Find your class and choose the icon that our course uses.
If you have any issues or questions about using Discord, please contact Susan.
This is how to sign up for MI 841 by selecting the Yellow pondering emoji face in the class-role-request channel
Please introduce yourself to the class by posting to the #introductions channel (it’s towards the top in the navigation panel).
