The University of Mindanao undertakes community extension/outreach programs in support of the Sustainable Development paradigm of the Community.
There are five pillars under this general Community Extension/ Outreach Programs agenda:
Sustainable economy focus on extension /outreach programs and linkages related to environmental enterprises development and business practices.
Sustainable industries and technology area will focus mainly on extension /outreach programs and linkages that seek to formulate programs, improve and enhance community lifestyle through the industrial utilization and technology application that are recognized as “green” technologies.
Sustainable Environment theme will focus on the good sound and balanced interaction with community and ecology. Community Extension/ outreach programs will be dealt on climate change programs, disaster alleviation programs, and programs of renewable energy and the preservation of the environment.
Sustainable Institutions community extension/ outreach programs will seek to put together the human and social mechanism in sustainable development. Community Extension and Outreach programs will concentrate on leadership education, rule of law, good governance, public health, welfare and culture.
Sustaining UM Gains through community extension /outreach programs geared to address the needs of the community or concerns such as to generate livelihood opportunities, to raise the skills and productivity levels for sustainable livelihood among the different sectors of the community, with the support of the strong UM student character, management and organization within institution, for the use of the school accreditation and certifications, and all other extension programs that will describe the momentum of excellence of UM (focus: administrative offices).
