About Your Teacher

Ms. Elaine Cramer is currently the Band and Choral Director at Upper Dauphin Area High School.  This year, her curricular duties include Concert Band, Choral Ensemble, instrumental lessons, Music Theory, Instrumental Musicianship, Piano Tech, Broadway Musical Productions, and Music Appreciation, as well as an Honors Humanities class co-taught with art teacher Mr. Bob Miller.  In addition, Ms. Cramer is the director of the Trojan Marching Band, the Trojanettes (UDA's elite women's choral group), and directs the high school musical.

Originally from Rochester, NY and a 2003 graduate of Gates Chili High School, Ms. Cramer participated in marching band, concert bands, choirs, pit orchestras, the Parkminister Music School’s flute choir, and studied under flutist Jennifer Horn.  She continued her musical studies at Mansfield University with Dr. Christine Moulton, where she was a member of the Mansfield University Concert Wind Ensemble, Symphony Orchestra, and The Spirit and the Pride of Pennsylvania, Mansfield University’s prestigious marching band. 

After obtaining a Bachelors of Music in Music Education, she began her teaching career at Liberty Elementary and Junior / Senior High Schools in October 2007 as a long-term substitute, teaching band and lessons for students in grades 4-12.  Her other duties included 7th grade general music, high school music theory, jazz band, and co-directing the Southern Tioga Marching Band.  In the fall of 2009, Ms. Cramer returned to Mansfield University full time to obtain a Master of Arts in Instrumental Conducting, studying with Dr. Adam F. Brennan.  She successfully completed coursework for her degree one week after starting at UDA.

Although teaching at Upper Dauphin keeps her quite busy, in her spare time she enjoys reading, scrapbooking, cross-stitching, playing board games, and spending time with friends, family, and her cat, Allie.  When she has the chance, she loves to sneak away to New York City to see Broadway shows or escape on a camping trip.
