A respect campaign is one of the most popular and effective Unified Champion Schools activities for elementary schools. The campaign is designed to promote acceptance and respect for students of all academic abilities.
Some schools have a week long awareness campaign, while others declare one day Respect Day. Activities vary from school to school, but are often planned to coincide with the Spread the Word annual day of awareness (held yearly the first Wednesday in March). Check out the additional activities to the left which you can incorporate into your own Respect Campaign.
Spread the Word: Inclusion
Some of our schools choose to specifically participate in the Spread the Word: Inclusion Campaign. The photos above are from our friends at Salem ECC and Norwood Public Schools.
If you choose to participate, Special Olympics MA will be able to send each school a Pledge to Spread Inclusion Banner where students and staff can sign their name and/or write a message of what inclusion means to them.
Check out the Spread the Word >> Inclusion Online Resources which includes a Student Activation Toolkit and Virtual Activation Toolkit.
