Esther Duflo

Esther Duflo

Born in Paris, France, 1972. Esther Duflo is an economist with a PhD from MIT, and it is also teacher at the "Poverty Alleviation and Development Economics", at the MIT department of Economics.

Her research is focused on the alleviation of global poverty and development of poor economies. Her experimental focus and methodologies have revolutionized development economics in the last decade. Her focus is on health, education, financial inclusion, the environment and governance.

The objective of her research is to find answers to macroeconomic questions through the integration of large-scale experiments .

She won a Nobel Prize in 2019, together with Abhijit Banerjee and Michael Kremer as a result of their work on the "experimental focus on the alleviation of global poverty".
